Theme: Curricular Uncommonplaces

Date: March 23-25, 2023

Location: Faculty of Education, Western University (London, ON)

About: Provoking Curriculum is a biannual conference supported by the Canadian Association of Curriculum Studies (CACS), which is part of the Congress of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSE).

Provoking Curriculum is an opportunity to disrupt, entangle and become lost in the most inspiring ways. The conference sessions focus on dialogue and exchange with inclusive scheduling allowing for ease in choice making and engagement.

In 2023, the 10th biannual Provoking Curriculum Conference will be taking place at Western University, London, ON and is Co-sponsored by CACS and Western’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Research in Curriculum as a Social Practice (ICRC).

Together, we welcome submissions to the upcoming conference. We invite submissions that address your current work in curriculum studies, especially ones that speak to the theme of Curricular Uncommonplaces. So much of what we thought we knew about curriculum - including its histories and legacies - have been turned on their head or need to be. What if we make strange our inherited curricular commonplaces and seek anew to provoke curricula for/from our twisted, precarious times? We invite proposals by scholars, researchers, students, artists and practitioners that co-cultivate an (un)common place of hope, nourishing spaces, and twisted curriculums that become new stories waiting to be told, in the following formats: papers and panels; arts-informed research and practices; or interactive sessions.
